After Burned Out, Engineering Positions Available
Posted by A R Baboon in Computer Science, Life is Complex + sqrt(-1), Work work work on August 19th, 2007
They have had me on after burners so long at work I often cannot remember simple things when asked. That being said we are hiring. And I am seeing to it personally that I get decent help. If you think you have the right stuff for cutting edge aerospace software engineering (CS or CompE) bring it on. Honestly the work we do is really Advanced Technology stuff. You need many years of experience, you just need to be someone who eats, breaths, and shee this stuff and then come back for seconds. That being said don’t bother if you are not a solid C programmer.
The Ultimate Gift from a Mother-In-Law
Posted by A R Baboon in HaHa Funny, Life is Complex + sqrt(-1), Our Little Bundles of... on July 13th, 2007
In this case I am referring to a gift from my mother to my son but it impacts my wife. The gift is a talking toy vacuum. Seems innocuous enough. I am sure my mother had no idea that it was a talking vacuum that would fling criticisms of our hygiene as my son walked around with it. In between the regular things you would hear from a talking kid toy, here are some of the things it says:
- Is that a rabbit? No, its just a dust bunny.
- Lets clean up this mess.
- This place is a pig sty.
- Did a tornado come through here?
My son has been playing with this every available minute since he got it yesterday. Well, at least he is getting the enjoyment out of it.
Don’t Delay Read This Wikibook

Or why I have not been posting
Except:
Procrastination or “task aversion” is the irrational delay of an intended course of action, even while expecting to be worse off for the delay (compare temporisation). The procrastinator deviates from the task, usually in favor of another more enjoyable (or less unenjoyable) activity. This behavior is pervasive throughout society – everyone procrastinates to some degree – but some people are so chronically affected as to be severely debilitated.
Kicking My OCD Crack Addiction
Posted by A R Baboon in Gaming, Life is Complex + sqrt(-1) on February 15th, 2006
I figured it out this morning why I have been so addicted to Crack Attack. You see I have a minor case of OCD and the gameplay of Crack Attack
feeds right into that. Most of the time my OCD
is channelled through my craft. This results in beautifully composed, optimised, self-documenting code which only ever asymptotically approaches completion.
However, I have recently had a second lapse into Crack Attack which is a game that is won by swapping blocks to form 3 or more in a row or column or both. Points are multiplied by cascading or simultaneous combos (one score results in an other). It is a game perfectly designed to exploit the weaknesses of OCD sufferers such as myself.

Today I am kicking the addiction! This game has occupied way too much of my limited time and I don’t want it around any more. Earlier I posted just how high of a score I have and that should be satisfaction enough. You may have noticed my post rate suffering… ok, non existent and I have even been playing at inapproriate times (I love you dear, sorry).
Purge complete!

There are many people in this world of ours, some of whom are fed more crap by their news/social media than others. Be thankful for the simple truths in your life for they may be all you have. Just look at this thread.
Appology Too Friend
Posted by A R Baboon in Life is Complex + sqrt(-1), Our Little Bundles of... on April 27th, 2004
I would like to take a moment to appologise to my dear departed friend, Amber. Sure, Amber was of the canine persuation but my treatment of her was unnecessary. All of this business with a choker collar and negative corrections was all unnecessary. Eventhough I simply didn’t know about proper training and was directed by the instructor to do these negative corrections, that does not excuse my actions. I knew that what I was doing was bad, contrary to the advise of others. I feel like a subject in the Stanley Milgram experiments.
This appology arrises from my recent experiences training Kasha. All I have to do is stop and wait for the leash to go limp when she pulls and withhold reward when she does not obey orders. She is already excellent at leash walking and the other things we have taught her.

What is the deal with doctors recently?
Posted by A R Baboon in Life is Complex + sqrt(-1) on April 14th, 2004
Why am I unable to find honest doctors since I was very young? Neither can my family. I would like to provide a few examples:
Jefferson University Hospital lost my father’s spinal tap results. Let me just explain what this means. Imagine that you had to undergo excruciating pain and all the lovely ways that the body reacts to such for two weeks so someone could evaluate the chemistry of a certain part of your body. You sign up to this because it is real important to know those results. Then after the entire ordeal of loss of work, loss of money, and the aformentioned suffering, they tell you they are having trouble locating the results and it was all for nothing.
My recent letter to Aetna regaurding my wife should explain the next instance:
A false, possibly fraudulent, item was charged by Dr. Harrer’s office listed as surgery for $600. There was no service provided that could possibly match this item. No X-Ray was taken and no surgery was performed. As a matter of fact, no service was provided other than a cursory exam, at best, and the application of a cast. The cast was applied so carelessly that it caused a subsequent visit to a second orthopedist for infection and recasting only ten days later.
Profession of medicine, I shake my head at thee.
