Model Blogging
Posted by A R Baboon in Art, Living Spaces, Piney Power on August 20, 2007
So my posts fizzled a bit but I am continuing to model local buildings. About one every day or two even if they are a little rough. I figured I would start with the largest buildings in Marlton first and then branch outwards. I think it is easier to constrain oneself to an area so I decided that I would stay in Marlton/Evesham for a bit. Actually Evesham is the largest town in the largest county (Burlington) in New Jersey. What I am wondering now is whether I need to create lower level-of-detail (LOD) models for the same in order to improve the performance of GE when the models are turned on. Maybe some one in the GEarth community would care to answer.

I can’t help but think those are some big birthing hips

I thought the movie was excellent. It really brought me back to my childhood. That and the compositing blew the socks off of me …guess I better put my socks back on…

Time For Wood
Posted by A R Baboon in Art, Living Spaces on February 16, 2006
Modern decor does not need to be inorganic. Two years ago at the Philadelphia Furniture Show I saw a hand carved wooden gear clock that made me drool (can’t find the picture, sorry). I love exposed gears in gadgets and the art of the carved wood plus the exposed gears was just over the top. I noticed Gizmodo posted a wooden gear clock kit last month that I just had to go buy for the baby’s room. This beautiful clock will hopefully produce a soft tick that should be calming (not the manufacturers claim, this is my own hope).
Today Gizmodo posted another wooden clock product that I just must have. This one apparently has a piece of veneer over an OLED digital alarm clock (this is my guess). Once again marrying warm organic form with digital function. The list price for this clock is a little too steep though. I will have to build it myself. I’ll consider posting the designs and material sources.
